Treasurer’s Report: Dan presented the yearly financial statement from February 26, 2017 to February 24, 2018 which the members could look over if they wished. He will ask Angela Collier to go over the finances for the year as usual. The financial statement for the period from February 24 2018 to March 24, 2018 shows opening balance of $1436.76 and balance forward of $1322.03.

Old Business:

Show Garson Sisters: Paulette Babin gave an up-date about this up-coming event. So far eighteen people have registered for the workshop on March 31. There will be an opening reception that evening with refreshments. The art work will be hung this coming Thursday. The grand opening for this show will be on April 28 and Erin Morton and Burton LeBlanc will be here that weekend. There will be other workshops and art talks announced later.

Member show at AGNS: The regulations for using the AGNS community room are in the process of being amended. Therefore, we will need to wait until this is completed before we can proceed with a show.

Small pieces show at Bread and Olives: This show is currently going on and will be until the end of April. Six paintings have sold so far.

Show Hugh Eamon: This beautiful exhibit is currently going on at the YARC.

Show with Write Away Group: Margriet said that five writers are interested in participating in this event with us. Eighteen YAS members have indicated that they will participate. Two of the artists will do their own writing which will leave sixteen pieces of art work for the Write Away Group to select from. The art work should be brought to our May meeting as the writers will attend and have a private meeting by themselves to select the art they are interested in. Artists should include their e-mail address and phone number in case the writer wishes to contact them about the art work.

New Business:

YAS member of YARC: We had a discussion about whether the YAS should renew its membership to the YARC this year. It was decided that we obtain more information about the benefits of the YAS being a member before making the decision to renew or not.

Holy Trinity Church: Kellianne Lund talked about the art related activities  that are going on at Holy Trinity Church. There is a call to artists for works of art related to Godspell for an exhibit on May 27 and also a call to artists for an exhibit on altered books, a meeting will be scheduled about this event. More information about these events will be posted on the YAS website. Kellianne also talked about perhaps opening the hall during the summer for figure drawing. This group is basically as networking group and is open to everyone, you do not need to be a YAS member. Dan advised that the name “Anchor for the Arts” has been reserved for this collective group of artists. There was more discussion about possibly doing  outdoor painting sessions and about perhaps having a weekend art show/gala with music etc. More details will follow.

Margriet will see if the AGNS community room is available on April 21 for our next meeting as the 28 of April is not available.

Respectfully submitted,

Noella DeMille
