Friday, July 27. 6:00- 9:00 p.m. Whose Museum Presents: Fill Yer Boots with Laura Hatfield

A still life drawing session with the collection and more!

A free,  all-ages event and workshop organized by Whose Museum, an artist’s project initiated by Laura Hatfield. The workshop draws upon the teaching methods of art educators Trudy and Paula Garson.

Their lessons provided a social situation in which to meet, talk, and express one’s ideas together in a supportive environment. They also had parties and this event will combine that aspect of their teaching with their more traditional class on still-life drawing, which they insisted on doing at the start of every year.

For this workshop with Whose Museum, participants are asked to bring an object of their choice ( something personal from home, found on the street, trash or treasure, etc.). Together the class will build a still life installation to draw. Art supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.

There will be refreshments—and maybe music!

Everyone is welcome—No ‘talent” required!

Finish the Portrait Event

The next event in our Trudy and Paula Garson exhibit series is coming up soon!  On Saturday, May 26, we’re invited to “Finish the Portrait”  with guidance and encouragement from master artist Maggie Mandell. This will be held from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Yarmouth.

We have an unfinished sketch for a portrait of a woman, done many years ago by Paula Garson. Four reproductions have been made for us to work on—and the idea is to have fun working together to finish these in a variety of styles—Cubist, Expressionist, Realistic??—We’ll use drawing materials such as pastels, charcoal, markers, and have a wonderful time !   Maggie will give us inspiration, guidance, and there will also be food and drink!  A chance to join friends for an early evening of enjoyment, and also to share more of the spirit and style of the Garson Sisters teaching.
